We did it. We finally did it. Tyler and I took our first mini vacation since our honeymoon in 2016. That’s THREE YEARS AGO. So to say this was a much anticipated trip is an understatement. It may or may not have rained the entire weekend. And by entire weekend – I mean literally every hour. But hey! If there was ever a place to be “stuck” inside, Nashville is the place. We started every morning with a mimosa or bloody mary (because vacation), and spent our waking hours finding the best food and live music Nashville had to offer. And well- the nightlife in Nashville speaks for itself.
I’m sharing our favorite places to eat, drink, and play during our rainy Nashville weekend getaway. Here goes . . . ENJOY!
FAVE FOOD:
- Tavern Restaurant: Located in Midtown, this is THE place to grab 2-for-1 bloody marys and mimosas! The cucumber blood mary? THE BEST. Also – the beef brisket eggs benedict was glorious.
- ACME Feed + Seed: I struggle a bit to even properly describe this “restaurant”. Essentially it’s made up of 3 floors and a rooftop terrace where you can find different types of food and live music on each. Floor 1 is more or less street food options centered around a large bar and live music stage. Floor 2 is the sushi bar and cocktail lounge. This is where I pulled up a seat and indulged in the best sushi roll of my life and a poke bowl.
- Peg Leg Porker BBQ: I’ll be honest, barbecue food isn’t usually my first choice. But maybe it’s because I’ve never eaten here before. Top notch food (the pulled pork was amazing) in a charming, but no-fuss environment. Just as you’d imagine in the south.
- Five Daughter’s Bakery: OKAY. Let’s talk about “cronuts” for a minute. Say what? YES- where a donut meets a croissant. Nutella filled? Even more magical. This fluffy, hazelnut concoction is like no other. The cream cheese everything flavor? Just as delicious. Yes – I had two. No – I’m not ashamed.
FAVE DRINKS/HANGS:
- Pinewood Social: Whoever dreamt this place up is a genius, had quite the vision, and I’m pretty jealous I didn’t think of it first. This is the place (especially if you’re in your 20s and 30s) to grab your friends and waste away your morning drinking mimosas and do some serious “brunching”. They have a full coffee bar, massive real bar, and impressive brunch menu. My favorite part? The bowling alley with bar service. Why haven’t I thought of that?
- Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge: A CLASSIC on Broadway. The walls are adorned with photos of classic country artists that got their start at this legendary bar. You’re bound to find something you love on one of their three levels. What really won me over? The orange slice in my Blue Moon. What can I say? I’m pretty easy to please!
- Second Fiddle: Never heard of it? Me either. This under-the-radar bar is where we found our favorite music. It’s located next to Tootsie’s but doesn’t have the buzz as some of the bigger bars on Broadway. Being out of the spotlight means the crowds aren’t daunting and you’re not waiting in line to be let in. Walk right in and enjoy the talent, folks.
- Florida Georgia Line House: If you’re a people watcher like me (in the least creepy way of course), head HERE. Again, a multi-level bar with different music for everyone. A little less of a country vibe and more of a modern “millennial” feel if that makes sense. If classic country isn’t your scene and you’re looking for something a little faster pace, this is your place.
- *To be fair, you can walk into any bar on Broadway and have a good time. Different bands every night mean a different experience every night as well! We’d literally walk in bar after bar until we found one that caught our attention. Grab a drink and soak it in!
WHERE TO STAY:
- Bobby Hotel: This was the little splurge of the trip. The hotel is located just a few blocks off of Broadway and is easily walkable to all the nightlife. However- I had a hard time wanting to leave after hanging out in the rooftop igloos and bar areas. Seriously – keep scrolling and check these photos out. Given the rainy weather and being inside most of the weekend, this was the perfect place to hang and get some fresh air. In the summer you can also enjoy the rooftop plunge pool! Overall – I’d totally recommend staying here to others and would definitely return back myself!
